My students and I are participating in the Fall 2008 CE 8 Pilot Program. How do we get technical support for using CE 8?
For the CE 8 courses in the Fall 2008 Pilot Program, the Help Desk will provide tech support to both faculty and students as usual. Contact the Help Desk for technical support by calling 825-1112 or e-mailing helpdesk@ccri.edu. (Note: if your students also have WebCT 4.1 courses, they should continue to contact the Help Desk for technical support of those courses.)
How do faculty get started? If you currently teach in WebCT 4.1, you will want to register for and attend a Migration Information Session to get an overview of the migration process and plan for migrating your course. In addition to finding out about the migration and the new tools, you may wish to begin developing your knowledge and skills with the new course management system by attending CE 8 training. If you have not taught a course in WebCT 4.1, but want to design or teach an online or web-supplemented course for Fall semester, you will want to attend CE 8 training. Check the Training pages on the IT website at: http://it.ccri.edu/Training/index.shtml for more information.
When will CE 8 be available for faculty to use?
If you are not involved with the Fall 2008 pilot program you'll be able to apply for new course shells in the CE 8 environment beginning in November 2008. Into these shells you'll migrate your CE 4.1 courses, or develop new CE 8 Spring courses.
Will usernames and passwords be different for CE 8?
No. You and your students will log in with your Pipeline username and password as you did in WebCT 4.1.
